Solway 29th march 2009

1st heat, dnf, was sitting 3rd and igition wire become loose. Track was in a bad way, very hard to drive on

2nd heat, 2nd place, had a not bad run but wasnt as fast as i should have been, didnt qualify for the final due to my dnf!

(saturday)

Heat one

All went to plan in this one, helps when your cluch works! 1st place

Heat two

An electrical problem caused me to have a misfire, so 3rd was a good result.

Heat three , with top tuner trigger doing the buisness, another win . 1st place.

Heat four

 My goggles packed in before the start so i took them off! bad move, i couldnt see and i was lucky to even get a 5th place!

Heat five

 Took no chances, made sure the goggles were clean and working, set the car up the way we thought it should be, had a good race with ian robertson, won by half a car length, 1st place!

THE FINAL!

After the heats i ended up top qualifier, so had the best lane to start the race, I got to the first bend first, and as soon as i did i knew everyone else was racing for 2nd place! It is true what they say about hearing funny noises when your leading 'the big one' and the front outside strut insert bursting on lap two didnt help,  1st place!!!!!!!!!!!

Balado

Well, i arrived as the lone ranger, no one to help so Ben Mckenzie helped me get the car off and ready, so big up Ben!

Heat one, Bad start again ( i was soon to find out why!!!!) got going and had a wee jaunt to the flag and made a few passes along the way, nothing to write home about, points in the bag!! 1st place.

Heat two, got off to a medeocre start and took the lead, but as soon as i did the race was red flagged, at the start of the re- run the car just seemed off, another re run but by now i was focused on finding the problem and it soon became apparent that my clutch had gave in! 3rd

That was me done racing for the day, so i loaded up and helped run the rest of the meeting and learned a wee bit by watching the competition, roll on the scottish open championship!

North of England Championship

York 26th/27th May

We (me, Scott, wee Stuart and trigger) left after the stock cars on Saturday night in pursuit of some silverware and bragging rights, and headed for York!  We arrived at the back of 2. My car passed scrutineering (obviously!!!!!!!!!!!) and the before we knew it, it was time to race.

Heat one,  I learned the track and made  up for a bit of lost ground up from my bad start, the race went ok , I was well on the pace but my roll offs ran out on the first lap. I finished 5th.

Heat two, we made a few alterations for heat 2 and they did the trick, I was 1st in to turn one, but some erse in a black mini from Scunthorpe nailed me in the drivers door, by the time I got going again I could only manage 2nd!

Heat three,    Bad start, worse 1st bend! I tried to avoid an incident at turn one by cutting the corner and got docked two places! 5th

On the whole the weekend was good but, as the saying goes, I didn't go to make the numbers up!

18th of May

Heat one, 2nd, the track was very dusty and this made it very difficult, Kenneth McRae got the lead and as hard as I tried I couldn't close the gap! I also discovered I had overfilled the engine with oil, which doesn't help!

Heat two, 3rd I made a terrible start and went backwards rather than forward before I found my rhythm, I got going and got close to the back of mark and Scott Lindsell.

Final, WELL!!! Made an ok start, got to 2nd after a wee bit of rubbing, I looked to the outside of Ian Robertson on lap one but before I knew it I took a bit of contact from the lindsells, it got heated and we all got black flagged!

4th of may, just call me the maximum man!

Heat one, 1st

Heat three, had a bit of a scare! Got off to a good start but the car died on the back straight AGAIN! But I got going again and had a great race with Ian Robertson, he made me work for it, but I just managed to edge round the outside Cole trickle style, that's why i'm 46! 1st

Final, by this time there were many accusations flying around regarding the legality of my car, so I drove it like I stole it! Did the last lap speaky style, one hand on the cage, one hand on the wheel, and had time to blow a few kisses to my doubters! get it right up ye' 1st

3rd of may,

Heat one started badly, a good start saw me lead into turn one, but electrical gremlins set in again! And by halfway down the back straight I was last! I got going again and got back up to 4th

Heat two was ok, I had another good race and a wee bit rubbing with Scott Lindsell again, but when I got ahead I cut a corner by mistake, and received a green flag, so was demoted to 3rd!

Final, well what do I say, everything fell just right, we got the car set up just right for the track conditions, the engine was run in and I won at a canter, I was well chuffed , first final win!!!!!!

Champ of champs, I was on a high after the final and I was doing well until Keith Mathews passed me like I was standing still in his class 8, I got last but I used the race as a bit of a test for the next days racing, I tried 3rd gear to give the engine a bit of a break.

First meeting of the year!  20.4.08

Heat one, what an anti climax! Never finished a lap, electrical problems ended my race before I got into 2nd gear!

Heat two was much better; I got the better of Scott Lindsell after a wee battle, I was very happy to get my first win of the year on the board.

Final, started a bit dodgy, was involved in a wee tangle and made it up to 2nd behind cs11 again before the race was red flagged! In the re run I was in 3rd place and got up the inside of cs11 again when he very abruptly shut the door resulting in damage to his car and a black flag for me. I was innocent I swear!! Overall I was satisfied with the new engine, but I had to spend a bit of time fine tuning as the car still felt like a boat!!!
